Steve's Bio
Steve Sherman is self-taught. Beginning in 1981 Steve realized his love of the environment would allow him to refine his photographic vision and technique while traveling to unusual and remote places all over North America. Steve regularly uses Large Format sheet film cameras ranging in size from 5x7 to 7x17 and works exclusively with Black and White materials.

At a recent gallery opening a Maine Times art critic described Sherman's work as "absolutely breathtaking with clarity and depth indescribable". Sherman has collaborated on several Connecticut Commission on the Arts projects. A television documentary about his work was produced and aired for a local cable network.

Working in traditional silver gelatin, silver chloride and the occasional Platinum Palladium processes, Steve adheres to the charge that
"Real   photographs   are   born   wet"  and uses no digital means to enhance or otherwise produce his original hand-made photographs. Steve personally controls every aspect of the photographic process from original conception through final presentation.
